The one that got away... or not?
I have been reading articles about Suharto and his legacy.

The IHT article seems exceptionally optimistic that justice could be done, or at least it is possible to have an investigation about all the corruption and massacres which he has done. I seriously doubt so actually, but I like the way the author made use of Indonesian cultural references to illustrate his point that Suharto might not get away with it after all, despite how much I disagree with it. I don't see a strong motivation for the current Indonesia government to investigate Suharto throughly, given that political interests are usually deep-set and intertwined, and it's difficult to do it without hurting them as well. There could be some actions on the surface for PR reasons, but that would be far from justice.
Choo Zheng Xi's article about MM Lee's comment is excellent, and a refreshing read. Singapore has benefitted too much from the corruption in Indonesia (and not just Indonesia only, ahem) that our government's silence on the inhumanity is deafening.
There are just too many things that the Straits Times doesn't tell you.
