The Great Jakarta adventure (part 3)
On Saturday morning, we woke up and got ready to head to Liv's aunt's place. I finally got to bring the stuff I got for Liv's grandma, which are the meat jerky (bak kua), green tea, cough syrup and lip balm.
We had noodles for breakfast, which is dry noodles with vegetables and diced chicken. It's nothing like what I have in Singapore, though I can't really pinpoint what contributes to the difference. The texture of the noodles is obviously different from the Cantonese style noodles we have in Singapore. Liv enjoyed it a lot, and she said that is what she often craves for in Singapore.
After breakfast (or rather brunch), Liv's grandma and grandaunt got ready to go out with us. Liv decided to take me to go shopping. Never mind that I managed to retrieve my luggage, shopping is still a must. Liv keeps thinking that I don't have enough clothes, for some reasons.
We walked around the entire mall looking for clothes for me. Liv's grandaunt found something she likes as well. In the end, Liv picked out two shirts and a pair of dark blue pants for me. I wanted to look for a pair of shorts to wear in Jakarta as well, but we couldn't find anything suitable.
We wanted to look at DVDs (pirated) too, so we headed to another mall just opposite. Alas, it was closed and the entire stall looked like it just got raided by the police.
As the driver needs to pick up Liv's aunt and uncle at their office in the evening, we had to leave at around 5 pm. We headed back to Liv's aunt place, and waited for them.
Dinner was at home, with many yummy Indonesia dishes. I should have taken photos of them, on hindsight. There was the entire bbq fish, chilli crab (it is not the same as the Singapore version), baby squids, fish cooked with papaya flowers (did I remember it correctly) and they all came with distinctive chilli sauce for dipping in. I can take spicy stuff, but not to that insane extent, so I didn't take much of the chilli.
We hanged around and chit-chatted after dinner, before the driver drove us to a shopping mall and dropped us there. We needed to buy mineral water and... Indomee, upon Von's request.
