Bugs anyone?
We were tired of the touristy night bazaar in Chiang Mai. K chatted up this cute waitress at the cafe where we were at, and she suggested that we go to the flower market instead, because it is the place where the locals buy the produces and there is cooked food for sale.
There are a lot of piping hot Thai dishes like grilled seafood, pad thai, desserts with tropical fruits, pancakes and so on, but guess what else we found?
Yes, bugs.
Me and Chris tried out the cocoons and the crickets (the ones on the bottom left hand corner), and we bought some crickets back to the hotel to munch on. Seriously they taste alright, like dried shrimps, but the cocoons are more moist, and the crickets are more crispy. As long as you can get through the psychological barrier, it isn't a big deal.
Ok you've seen it right. This is a big disgusting and.. cooked cockroach, all ready to be eaten.
I stared at it, and decided that I am not going to eat it. Chris said that she ate it before, and she puked because it tasted too gross.
We scurried away.
